In recent years,video data compression is the most widely used technology in the field of video transmission and video display.With the rapid development of 4k video,high definition video compression and decompression play an increasingly important role in products related to video display.The design process and implementation process of high definition video compression circuit are described in this paper,mainly complete the function simulation in the front-end design and processes of synthesis,placement and routing in the back-end design.In the front-end design process,the method of the transmission of difference between real high definition video data value and predicted value is creatively adopted to achieve the goal of intraframe compression,the overall structure of circuit is determined,and the module of value prediction,reconstruction and difference value generation,flatness decision,index color history data update,prediction mode selection,VLC(Variable length code)coding and rate control are designed.Meanwhile,test simulation and debugging are applied to the whole design and each part and simulation debugging is executed on the HDMI application system integrated with high definition video compression circuit,and finally the right function of the circuit in the front-end design is ensured.In the back-end process,compression circuit is synthesized with RC tool under Cadence platform,and after putting the netlist and sequential file generated by synthesis into encounter tool,the final layout is produced by placing and routing.In this series of process,if wrong timing is found,the front-end design process is repeated until no timing error happen.For setup time violation,the way that splitting big combinational logic operation into two steps in two clock cycle is adopted to adjust timing;For hold time violation,inserting the driving cell is carried out to correct design.In conclusion,front-end process completes function of real-time compression of the high definition video data,and the back-end process realizes the flow that from netlist to layout that can tape out.After Tested,high definition video intraframe compression circuit has good independent work performance,and in the HDMI chip system can work stable.
