With the development of the era and the progress of science and technology,bionics and its application has gradually penetrated into various fields,in the people's life and work,it plays a significant role.Navigation provides accurate and reliable information of direction for mobile carriers,so that it can reach the destination accurately according to the selected route.In this paper,a bionic polarization navigation sensor is designed based on the combination of bionics and navigation.The design of the sensor is inspired by a small animal in the Sahara Desert----Cataglyphis.Its special compound eye structure and the processing mechanism of the polarized light in the internal neuron is the theoretical basis of the bionic polarized light navigation;the regular distribution of polarized light is the basis of realization.The general structure of the bionic polarization navigation sensor includes two parts:the hardware design and the software design.Therefore,mimicking compound eye structure of the cataglyphis,building the perceptual unit of the polarization navigation sensor.There are three same polarization channels with the difference of 60°in the sensing unit,which is defined as the channel of the 0°degree,the channel of the 60°degree and the channel of the 120°degree.Each polarization channel comprises a pair of mutually perpendicular check elements,each of which has three parts:blue filter,a pair of mutually perpendicular polaroids and photodiode.After the polarized light is irradiated to the sensing unit of the sensor,makes the optical signal translate into electrical signal,because the signal is too weak to deal with,through the logarithmic amplifier to amplify,then converting via A/D,into the control module to deal with the collected signal,and finally sending through the serial port.At last,the performance of the bionic polarization navigation sensor is tested,the test includes two parts:indoor test and outdoor test,and the error is analyzed.
