In order to meet people's mobile communication requirements for higher data transmission rate and reliability,the fifth generation(5G)mobile communication system is proposed and gradually standardized.The 3rd Generation Partner Project(3GPP)Release 12 has proposed LTE(Long Term Evolution)dual connectivity technology,which improves system capacity by deploying small cells with low power and small coverage.A new air port of 5G era is New Radio(NR).Taking operators' different deployment options into account,because the multi/dual-connectivity technology has the role of combining LTE with NR,it becomes more and more important.Based on the standardized LTE dual connectivity technology,this paper studies the multi/dual connectivity technology in 5G network.Key performance indicators,technical scenes and possible key technologies of 5G are introduced and analyzed.The multi/dual connectivity technology that is the major research object in this paper is to elicit.The research on the realization of 5G multi/dual connectivity technology is carried out,including the theoretical research and analysis of user plane and control plane multi/dual connectivity.Besides,the multi/dual connectivity of LTE and 5G interworking is proposed.The realization of LTE+5G multi/dual connectivity is theoretically studied and analyzed.A radio protocol architecture simultaneously containing user plane 1A and 3C architecture is designed in LTE+5G multi/dual connectivity.Also,control plane/user plane(CP/UP)split multi/dual connectivity architecture in 5G is proposed.We elaborate the design principles,the radio protocol architecture of CP/UP multi/dual connectivity as well as user supporting configurations.In this paper,we respectively build LTE+5G multi/dual connectivity and 5G+5G multi/dual connectivity simulation scenarios.In the LTE+5G multi/dual connectivity simulation,the user throughput is treated as the performance index;Firstly,the performance of the multi/dual connectivity and the single connectivity is compared,the simulation results show that the LTE+5G multi/dual connectivity has more throughput gain;Secondly,the performance of user plane 1A and 3C architecture proposed by LTE dual connectivity is respectively analyzed and the performance of two is compared,the simulation results show that when the backhaul delay is higher,the user plane 1A architecture multi/dual connectivity has more user throughput than the user plane 3C architecture multi/dual connectivity,and when the backhaul delay is lower or target bufferring time of Secondary eNB(SeNB)is longer,the performance of the user plane 3C architecture multi/dual connectivity is better than the performance of the user plane 1A architecture multi/dual connectivity.In the 5G+5G multi/dual connectivity simulation,the user throughput is treated as the performance index,the 5G CP/UP split multi/dual connectivity proposed in this paper is compared with user plane 1A and 3C architecture of LTE dual connectivity respectively,the simulation results show that when transmission capability is unbalanced between the macro and small cell or the backhaul delay is visible,the 5G CP/UP split multi/dual connectivity proposed in this paper has more user throughput gain.
