In the future manufacturing,intelligent manufacturing is an inevitable trend,coordinate measuring machine is widely used as a measure of industrial manufacturing machine,intelligence is a natural tendency of its development.In order to achieve intelligent measurement CMM,the anti-collision during CMM measuring process is very important.One way to do so is to build a virtual space that is absolutely corresponded to the real space.Because of the existence of the virtual space,collision detection will first be done in the virtual space when the instructions are sent to the CMM;and it's also possible to plan the measuring routes intelligently with the help of virtual space collision detection.Based on the idea above,virtual CMM model is built and the model of work piece to be measured is built by reading from CAD files.And,the collision detection of virtual CMM in virtual space are also realized.As there are many different shapes of work pieces to be measured in the manufacturing industry,it's complicated and unnecessary to build the model of shapes to be detected before the application executed.So,in this article,the function of reading some generally used formats of CAD files is realized by using the data exchange module of Open CasCade(OCC).And by taking advantage of the modeling features of OCC,the collision detection method between complex geometrical shapes is realized.And the results of collision detection are pretty good.The main work that have been done are listed below:Building virtual CMM and work piece to be measured in the virtual computer graphic space by using the open source geometry library OCC.Realizing effective collision detection between various different complex shapes by using bounding box method and triangle facet intersection method.The program is realized on the Windows operating system by using Visual Studio integrated development environment(IDE).Verifying the correctness of the collision detection of simple and complex shapes By doing some experiments.Analyzing the performance of the collision detection method in this article,including time consumption and detection error.
