Bianisotropic metamaterials have been paid much more attention as the development of metamaterial study.By adopting the unbalanced Split-Ring Resonators(SRRs),the bianisotropic metamaterial is realized.Detailed formulation shows that the asymmetry of the unbalanced SRR inside a single unit cell makes the wave impedance of the transmitted wave distinguished by the wave vector.The propagation property of electromagnetic wave will change in the influence of bianisotropic metamaterial.Thus it can be used on the antenna to enhance or depress the radiation of antenna.In this paper,it mainly contains:1?Firstly,the study background of asymmetrical bianisotropic metamaterials,detailed information of property,forbidden band and parameters retrieve method of bianisotropic metamaterials are introduced in the first and second chapter along with the concept of time reversal and space inversion transformations.The electromagnetic coupling coefficient in the constitutive relations is asymmetrical under space inversion transformation that reveals the asymmetrical property of bianisotropic metamaterials under time reversal and space inversion transformations.2?The third chapter is the key chapter.The equation of wave impedance is derived out of Maxwell equation which is distinguished by direction of the wave vector.The conditions when the metamaterial can resonant and perform PMC property on one side and PEC on another are analyzed in detail.So we can use it to improve the performance of antenna and other devices.Formular derivation of magnetic parameters retrieval is made at last.3?The simulations and physical production of the bianisotropic metamaterial based on unbalanced Split-Ring Resonators and corresponding balun dipole and broadband microstrip antenna are made in the fourth and fifth chapter.The forbidden frequency bandwidth is analyzed.The constitutive parameters of the metamaterial block is extracted by the retrieval algorithm.Enhanced or depressed radiation has been realized in the simulation and experimental process.
