In recent years,with the development of sensors,microelectronics,communication and computing technology,wireless sensor network is found increasingly utilization in many fields like environmental monitoring,national defense military,industrial automation,medical treatment and public health.In order to solve the limited source of the sensor network spectrum,cognitive radio technology is introduced to the sensor network.This method is more reliable and has great potential to avoid problems which traditional radio faced.In the cognitive wireless sensor networks,although sensors have characteristics of cognitive radio,the limited of sensor energy is still a core feature restricts network performance.So how to reduce the energy is of great significance and prolong network life is still the core optimization goal.Cognitive wireless sensor network routing protocol is one of the important technologies in cognitive wireless sensor network.The overall performance of the network is directly affected by the routing performance.In route choice models,the cluster-base hierarchical model is widely regarded as the one of the most research value.This paper proposes an artificial bee colony clustering algorithm which applies artificial bee colony to cognitive wireless sensor network routing protocol after many researches.As a kind of biological heuristic algorithm,cognitive behaviors of artificial bees and cognitive sensor networks are well matched.It is able to keep the cluster head and sensor nodes dynamically consistent,at the same time adaptable to topological changes of sensor networks.In addition,a clustering evaluation model is proposed to reduce and balance energy consumption of nodes in the cognitive wireless sensor networks.Compared with other heuristic algorithms,proposed artificial bee colony clustering algorithm considers fewer control parameters,so it also has lower sensitivity on obtaining the optimal solutions.Simulation experiment results show that the performance of artificial bee colony clustering algorithm in this paper is better than the traditional LEACH and HEED algorithms in the cognitive wireless sensor network.And with the increasing in the numbers of network nodes,the algorithm in this paper has much better performance.In conclusion,the artificial bee colony clustering algorithm in this paper has a great significant in reducing energy consumption and prolonging the life of the sensor networks.
