PTN (Package Transport Network) is a new type of MAN broadband transmission network. PTN equipment as the carrier of PTN technology combined with software and hardware,the quality requirements of the function and performance is also very high. Automated testing Must be introduced because it is hard for manual testing to test such huge functions and frequent software version iteration with a low cost.This thesis designed and implemented an automated testing system for PTN equipment embedded software based on the project experience of a communications equipment manufacturer(hereafter referred to as H company). This system is mainly used for embedded software of PTN equipment independently developed by H company,and not involved in hardware test and software unit test. And this system deploys to take black-box test in system testing phase,and software version maintenance phase in software lifecycle.This thesis mainly includes:(1) Design and analysis the requirement of PTN equipment software automatic test system. After compare and analysis several commonly used automated scripting language, the QTP TCL combining technical scheme is the best choose, which use the TCL write test scripts, and use QTP VB to execute and call TCL script.(2) Hierarchically Coding and implement PTN equipment software automation testing system according to the system frame structure designed.Based on the design ideas of test logic and data separation, sums up the general test process of the automated test system. Coding and realize the system function of each layer, including driver layer and execution layer, function layer and application layer.(3) Finally,take H company one product's automated test results on a software version as the example to analyze the results,and plan standardization and completeness of the management and maintenance of automation test system and the relevant parts.Compared with other companies' communication equipment automatic testing system in the industry, in part of conclusion of this thesis has detailed few innovations in the communication test and expansion development of this PTN device software automatic testing system. Design and implementation of this PTN equipment software automation testing system has been completed, at present it has been put into use.From the point of view of several application results, it can find software bugs, save manpower and time cost, enhance the working efficiency of the test, make up for the deficiency of the manual testing.
