Digital filter is the basic functional unit of the digital signal system. It is widely used in communication, radar, etc. So, optimize and design the digital filter is an important research topic in the field. The past digital filter optimization method is simple in the implementation process, but the precision of the system is not high. With the rapid upgrading of science and technology, the low accuracy filter can't meet the actual demands, digital filter optimization technique based on intelligent algorithm appeared. Intelligent algorithm is summarized from nature by human, it is the wisdom crystallization of human, it is very effective in solving complex engineering problem. The common intelligent algorithms, such as simulated annealing algorithm, genetic algorithm and neural network algorithm, have both advantages and disadvantages in the process of the optimal design of the digital filter. This paper puts forward an improved particle swarm algorithm to realize the optimization of digital filter coefficient, the specific content is as follows:(1) researched on the digital filter and particle swarm optimization, summarized the application significance of particle swarm optimization algorithm in the digital filter design.(2) put forward an improved particle swarm optimization algorithm--chaos particle swarm optimization algorithm, that is the combination of chaos algorithm and particle swarm optimization algorithm, because of the particle swarm algorithm itself exists the disadvantages of poor local optimization ability, vulnerable to premature, the characteristics of chaos algorithm can solve these problems exactly, so chaotic particle swarm optimization algorithm was applied to optimal design the digital filter. The specific steps are as follows:produce chaotic particle initialization first, then mapped the chaotic variables from chaotic space to the solution space, through the selected Logistic chaotic model, theory test on the algorithm was carried on with test function, the result shows the improved algorithm is effective.(3) optimized the parameters of the digital filter with the improved particle swarm algorithm, completed the design of the digital filter.(4) in order to further verify the filtering effect of the digital filter based on improved particle swarm algorithm, this article also apply it to the speech signal processing and image processing, the filtering effect is good.(5) for convenience, this paper used MATLAB programming language to design a digital filter GUI interface based on improved particle swarm algorithm.
