Wireless sensor network is composed of numerous sensor nodes distributed in certain monitor area. The achievement of network application is dependent on the accordant synchronized time between different nodes, so time synchronization technology is one of the important supporting technology of wireless sensor network. By the research of time synchronization technology of wireless sensor network, synchronization technology can be divided into packet message synchronization and pulse coupling synchronization. Compared to packet message synchronization, the pulse coupling synchronization have many advantages such as straightforward synchronization mechanism, scalability and energy consumption. The firefly synchronization algorithm based on pulse coupling synchronization is researched deeply in this article.Via the deep research of basic theory and synchronization algorithm of time synchronization technology for wireless sensor network, the study of firefly synchronization algorithm based on pulse transmission is developed. The accumulated error and high energy consumption phenomenon of concentrated synchronization algorithm from packet synchronization is solved by firefly synchronization algorithm that uses distributed thought.The application and convergence of firefly synchronization algorithm in wireless sensor network as emphasis is researched. The convergence conclusion is obtained by theoretical derivation and simulation. The simulation result of firefly synchronization algorithm in wireless sensor network shows that the firefly synchronization algorithm can get synchronization in certain error limit, which is promising in the application of time synchronization technology for wireless sensor network.The phase error swing phenomenon of nodes is found in the further research of convergence progress for firefly synchronization. The phase jump caused by synchronization receiving pulse is not always accordant with the final convergence direction. So a kind of accelerated convergence algorithm based on firefly algorithm is put forwarded. This accelerated algorithm modify the inherent synchronization mechanism, which the receivercalculate and judge the firing pulse of sender, then ignore receiving the firing pulse caused opposite jump. This prejudgment is necessary for right pulse, beyond that for the ignoring pulse, the energy consumption by calculating is far less than receiving pulse. The proposed algorithm effectively achieved synchronization between all network nodes and lowered the requirement for all coupling condition in wireless sensor network. At the same time,the accelerated algorithm effectively decreased the energy consumption and accelerated the speed of synchronization convergence. Then the synchronization performance of proposed algorithm is conducted by theoretical analysis and simulation confirmation. The simulation result agree with the theoretical analysis, which the proposed algorithm accelerate the convergence speed and decrease the energy consumption of nodes under the condition of obtaining synchronization.
