The duration capability is directly affects the working efficiency and operation range of the mobile robot. How to achieve the safely and efficiently of mobile robot's auto-recharging without human intervention is a critical technology. The mode of replace the battery is more advanced. But the existing systems are always complex and needs a longer time to replace,which seriously reduce the efficiency of the mobile robot. The research focus on how to optimize the structure and the mode of operation, reduce the replacing time. A novel docking station capable of rapidly exchanging a discharged battery for mobile robot is designed in this thesis, the operation of the control is also studied.Firstly, combined with the structural characteristics of the service robot and the power supply module, the whole structure is designed. The design concept for the docking station recharge in the leisure time and replace in group are proposed, which ensure the effective implementation of the process.Secondly, a rotary replacing method is proposed. The method uses a rotary structure to replace the battery and a push-pull structure to drawn off and insert the battery, the switching mechanism change from the traditional horizontal structure into the rotary disk. This design not only reduces the system's acreage, and minimizes the battery exchanging time.Thirdly, according to the designment of the structure, the self-renewal control method based on finite state automata theory is built. This method can simplify the process of operate,and ensure the reliability of the system. The operation can complete in two control modes:automatic control and manual control.Based on the above key technologies and methods, the mechanical and electrical systems are manufactured, the relevant software is composed, the actual system is developed, and the relevant experiment is finished. The results show that the proposed method is validity and practicality. The work in the paper provides a new idea for the mobile robot self-renewal.
