Business process management has developed more than ten years since presented by Gartner in 1996. Traditional workflow processes solve problems of basic support within independent application. With the general increase in IT maturity, more and more enterprises gradually realize that the process is everywhere. Thus they hope to improve information technology, standardization and integration of the internal business processes, and also they are eager to enhance the unified management and optimization of process from the overall perspective. To solve the above problems, based on the study of the features of business process management systems, the paper aims to combine the existing BPS (Business Process Service) products and realizes a business process management system based on SEDA(a kind of stage event-driven server application architecture). The followings are the main research work in this paper:Firstly, divide the whole system into two parts, the process portal and the process running platform. The main work of process portal includes:(1) design and develop the portal UI; (2) implement the specific invoke logic of process management and system management; (3) complete basic server, such as exception handling, network communications, authentication. The main work of the process running platform includes:(1) with the SEDA architecture design, divide the platform into a plurality of stage which improve the system performance; (2) implement the analysis of process definition, provide the function of process engine; (3) complete the development of configure and monitor interfaces for portal. Finally, implement the system according to the design and run the test, the system is running well, it is proved that the design is reasonable and reaches the expected goal.
