As the technology advances, the traditional fan now is hard to meet the cooling needs of the notebook computers. In the recent years, the piezoelectric synthetic jet fan has attracted the attention of many researchers, and it also has become one solution of the laptop cooling problems. In this paper, experimental measurements and numerical simulation were performed to learn the piezoelectric synthetic jet fan in notebook computers. The following are the main work and result:1. The structure and deformation theory of piezoelectric vibrator are researched, and a piezoelectric fan based on synthetic jet is designed.2. A coupled field finite element model of the circular piezoelectric vibrator is established to have the static and modal analysis. The results of the simulation and experiments prove the correctness of the finite element simulation mode. It also helps the design of square piezoelectric vibrators.3. The flow field simulation model is set up to study the characteristics of the flow field and velocity field distribution of the piezoelectric fan. It also proves the correctness of the flow field simulation model.4. The fin cooling model is founded to show that the fin height should be greater than the width of the piezoelectric fan vents to make full use of the transverse entrainment ability of the synthetic jet.5. The experiment of fin cooling is founded and gets an effective cooling effect. It is also proved that in the best frequency and distance between vents and fins, there is the best cooling effectiveness.
