In recent years, with the rapid development of wireless sensor network technology, its application field has been cotinusly widened. MAC protocols, as one of the most important technologies of the wireless sensor network, is a hub connecting the physical layer and software agreement, its design has a great impact on network performance. Meanwhile, with application field widening, a particular scenario design of MAC protocols has gradually became the trend of research,In this thesis, ACT-MAC, a new asynchronous duty cycle and concurrent transmission MAC protocol designed for intensive sensor network, has been proposed. ACT-MAC achieves high energy efficiency through the introduction of the novel mechanisms for adaptive receiver-initiated multichannel rendezvous and predictive wake-up scheduling. And a timing requirement has been derived to make concurrent transmissions of the same packet interfere constructively, allowing a receiver to decode the packet even in the absence of capture effects. ACT-MAC can efficiently support broadcast-based communication that may be used in intensive sensor network that is benefited from the technique of concurrent interface. We show the performs of the new protocol in some test scenarios which is based on TelosB hardware platform. These results show that ACT-MAC has an obvious advantages compared to RI-MAC and EM-MAC in power consumption and packet transmission delay.ACT-MAC is suitable for dense wireless sensor network and the situation requiring long network life. It is also quite useful for MAC protocol research.
