With the development of science technology and the improvement of people's living standards, traditional 2D image information has been unable to meet people's requirements. The 3D information is widely used in lots of areas, such as in unmanned driving, virtual reality, human-computer-interaction and so on. In these aspects, depth sensing is the essential stage. Now, how to acquire depth data with high accuracy and high resolution has become a top research focus. According to the existing depth sensing technologies, a depth sensing method based on stereo and structured light is proposed in this paper. The depth sensing method based on stereo and structured light proposed in this paper combines the advantages of stereo and phase shifting depth sensing techniques. Coarse depth information can be acquired from the stereo system, which is composed of two cameras. Then, the coarse depth information can be utilized to guide phase's unwrapping which is difficult in the traditional phase shifting method. The method in this paper solves the complexity of the phase unwrapping. Besides, the depth in the isolated or disconnected areas which is usually ambiguous for the traditional phase shifting method can be acquired. Moreover, the method we proposed exploits not only the scene features but also the coding information in patterns, so it has high robustness. Our method also can reach the sub-pixel accuracy.Besides the proposed method, an infrared structured system is designed. This system can be utilized as a high accuracy and non-contact sensor for data of body posture. The system we designed is portable and easy to adjust. The designed patterns can be projected by the system and the patterns are clearly and well-distributed. The result of experiments demonstrates the practicability of our system.
