Infrared polarization detection, with higher authenticity, highlights the target and has advantage in the smoke penetrating aspect, compared with the infrared and visible light detection. However, in the actual detection, scattering transmission media such as dust and fog, characteristics of the infrared polarization will be changed during transmission, so as the detection result. Through the analysis and study the rule of scattering, polarized light can be modulated and detection transformed to meet specific requirements. We try to find the discipline that how infrared polarization characteristics alters during the scattering environment of long distance transmission in this study, and analyzing the polarization characteristics of thermal emission of targets, in which the major work are introduced as follows.First, the polarization property of optics is analyzed, and the polarization characteristics are stated. Then we describe the polarization characteristics of commonly used methods, and the theory of single particle Mie-scattering infrared electromagnetic wave is particularly analyzed.Second, based on the theory of Monte-Carlo random statistical theory, each step of the algorithm is stated. And based on this algorithm, a haze of smoke fog environment infrared polarized scattering model is set up, upon which two kinds of scattering particles respectively, two kinds of particle diameter and concentration of five kinds of conditions, the far-infrared wavelengths(8 mm~ 12 mm) of four different polarization incident light polarization state after multiple Mie-scattering are simulated. The results show that the polarization degree of incident light could be ‘weaken' by particles. And the incident light polarization properties of different polarization maintain ability regularly. At last, this paper formalized a polarization model for thermal emission general to dielectric and metal rough surfaces. And the model is improved by considering the effect of multiple scattering, which shows that particle scattering has a certain influence on infrared polarized light. This paper has studied the model that how infrared polarization characteristics alters during the scattering environment of long distance transmission, which has good applicability and related research work in the future will gradually improve the perfect model, in order to get more accurate analysis results, combined with the late design of experiment and test verification.
