Along with Internet services and the rapid rise of electronic commerce, the Internet has become the fundamental tool to People's Daily life and even to the national economy.people also have higher and higher requirements as well. While many companies have deployed a large number of internal server cluster, network performance still has some problems such as bandwidth congestion, long-time response.The main reason caused these problem is that the allocation of server cluster is unreasonable which cause some server nodes are overloaded while others are idle. Load balancing technology appeared to solve the problem through the rational distribution of load balancing traffic. However, load balancing technique is carried out with poor flexibility due to the limitations of traditional network.As an new type of network architecture, the emergence of SDN(software defined network) has broken down the limitations of the traditional network architecture. The framework simplifies the network management by seperating the network control plane and network forwarding level. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to implement server cluster load balancing based on OpenFlow. The algorithm can improve the load balance of server cluster and provide a simple and efficient solution to the server cluster load balancing throughing using some features of OpenFlow such as centralized control.Firstly, this paper introduces the domestic and foreign research status and the related concept and technologies about the load balancing and OpenFlow.After that, we get the implementation process of the algorithm by discussing the weight of the server, the measurement of the network link and path selection.Using Open vSwitch and Floodlight controller to set up the OpenFlow environment and simulate the experiment.By adding correlation algorithm to the controller, the load balancing scheme is carried out. Through the analysis of the experimental results, it is found in this paper that the new algorithm can be used to integrate server running state and network link bandwidth, which can not only improve the whole processing performance of server cluster, but also show the advantage of OpenFlow network.
