Oil and gas pipeline is a pillar industry of the national lifeblood, and is also very important part of the national energy industry. Its management level is also an important symbol when measuring technological progress of the national energy. According to statistics, by the end of 2007, the country has been building the length of the oil pipeline reaching 17 thousand kilometers. To the end of 2015, the country will build a total length of 80 thousand kilometers of oil and gas pipeline. Now many oil pipelines have been used for two or thirty years, the corrosion problem of age has been more and more serious. And because of the continuous occurrence of geological disasters, as well as the frequent theft of oil, the domestic oil pipeline leakage is more serious. At any time, there may be a pipeline leak, causing significant damage to the body and property.Automatic pipeline inspection and control system in the paper is a kind of automation system designed for the health inspection of long distance oil pipelines, to achieve a wide range of synchronous measurement and intelligent information processing as well as those responsible for alarm and so on, to reduce the cost of pipeline maintenance and at the same time improve the monitoring accuracy, and combining with the artificial patrol to achieve the whole territory automatically patrol of the oil pipelines. There are mainly two parts.the software part consists of server, PC client and mobile client. This paper is PC client's design and implementation of the automatic pipeline patrol system.After understanding the current situation of the PC client in the oil pipeline system, then comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the C/S mode and B/S mode, and based on the system real time and data quantity this paper determines to use the C/S mode architecture. Further analysis of the current mainstream database, and based on the PC client needs, it selects the My SQL database as the database of the system. PC client's design goal is to achieve data communication between the client and the server and display data. The server-side programs running on the remote host, are responsible for the operations on the corresponding database, such as opening, querying, inserting, deleting and so on. Using My SQL database, the client programs running on computer deal with data querying and monitoring and so on. The data communication between client and server is based on TCP/IP protocol, through Socket programming. When client query or monitor the pipeline data, the programs display it through the combination of list, line charts and maps. This is one of the highlights of the system, making data monitored more intuitive, more convenient and more humanized. Users can also see the details of the data, map information which is displayed based on the three-dimensional map, and line chart information of pipeline measurement. Base on some geographic information of the measurement points, pipelines can be predicted in some time. At the same time, the querying and monitoring result about the data can be saved, which can be stored in the computer, or be printed out for later processing.
