Synthetic Aperture Radar is a high resolution imaging radar, which uses pulse compression technology and synthetic aperture technology. After decades of development, it has a broad application prospects in economic, scientific research and military fields. Visual programming language Lab VIEW was used to develop the SAR image processing software in this thesis. Several classic imaging algorithm combined with a certain motion compensation method were used for real-time imaging of SAR data. And the results of image can be saved, processed and visual analysis. The software can be simple and efficient for SAR imaging. There is a great significance to domestic SAR research and development. The main contents in this thesis are as follows.First of all, we researched and analyzed the SAR imaging mechanism and imaging algorithms, it is ready for imaging software development. In terms of imaging mechanism, radar working principle was explained in detail by striped side looking SAR. Range resolution and azimuth resolution were analyzed and deduced in detail. In terms of imaging algorithms, the common imaging algorithms were introduced in SAR imaging software, including Range-Doppler algorithm, Chirp Scaling algorithm, Range Migration algorithm and SPECAN algorithm. We show the imaging flowchart on the basis of its imaging principle. Then, several of the above imaging algorithms were compared and analyzed. We summed up their respective performance and applicable conditions to select the appropriate SAR imaging algorithm for users.Secondly, the development platform and design ideas of SAR imaging processing software were introduced. In terms of the development language, we compared and analyzed traditional SAR imaging software development language, and choosing Lab VIEW as SAR imaging processing software development platform. Programming techniques used in Lab VIEW were introduced in detail. For design of SAR imaging processing software, based on the study of the SAR imaging mechanism and imaging algorithm, we analyzed and determined the functional requirements of SAR imaging processing software according to user needs. We designed the overall framework of software based on functional requirements. Five modules were given a detailed design. The design flowcharts were given, which includes user login module, parameter setting module, imaging processing module, image display and image quality assessment module.Finally, each module of software was successfully achieved using the above design. The function of each module of the software was shown in detail by Range-Doppler algorithm. Users can select from the Range-Doppler algorithm, Chirp Scaling algorithm, Range Migration algorithm, SPECAN algorithm any of the four algorithms combining with INS and echo data to get on data processing and imaging results are displayed. According to needs,the quality of image can be evaluated from the point targets and surface targets.
