With the development of electronic jamming and anti-radiation missile technology, active detection methods as represented by radar are increasingly threatened. As a useful complement to the active detection systems, passive radiation detection systems receive electromagnetic signals to locate targets, because of their non-radiation, passive radiation detection systems effectively improve the viability of the system in the electronic war. In particular with the advantages of wide frequency bandwidth, high precision, fast and strong positioning "Four anti-" capability, etc. the TDOA location system is a promising passive positioning technology. To improve the estimation accuracy, passive location system for target tracking radiation sources generally need the help of some filtering algorithms based on multiple measurements, its positioning procedure is the use of all measurement information at one time and the time before that time to estimate states of the sources.To improve the performance of TDOA positioning and tracking system, starting from the basic principles of TDOA positioning, analyzing the factors affecting the performance of TDOA location in depth, discussing the stability condition of tracking filter and simulations demonstrate the impact of various factors on the TDOA location tracking performance.This paper studies the basic principles of TDOA location, discusses the TDOA localization features, derives the multi-station TDOA positioning equations and studies least squares algorithm based on Taylor expansion and Chan algorithm. Given the definition of the space index, the time index and performance index of passive positioning system, analyzes the linkages between positioning accuracy indicators; detailed derivation of the GDOP accuracy index of TDOA location, factors that influence the positioning performance are obtained through simulation, the influence of various factors on the positioning accuracy are analyzed and discussed. The filter tracking technology of TDOA location are studied, optimal Bayesian filtering algorithm, ?/? filter algorithm, Kalman filter algorithm, the extended Kalman filter algorithm and unscented Kalman filter algorithm are discussed respectively, filtering algorithm stability is analyzed in depth, the relationship between positioning accuracy and measurement accuracy is derived, simulation proves that convergence error and measurement accuracy is proportional. Finally, the difference positioning tracking system is simulated, the simulation process is given to verify the performance of TDOA location and tracking system.
