As an important part of multimedia technology, digital video compression codec technology has developed fast and used widely. Nowadays MPEG and H.26 x are the most popular video compression codec standards. AVS2 standard is made by home and representing the highest level of video standard in the home. Currently the AVS2 is in the development stage, has not yet entered the industrialization application. AVS2 standard technical analysis and optimization implementation is researched in this paper, moreover, fast decoding is achieved on the hardware platform.Multicore DSP chip TMS320C6678 from Texas Instruments Company is used as the hardware platform in this paper. With the latest architecture and high processing performance, TMS320C6678 has widely used in many field, especially the multimedia processing work with large amount of data. TMS320C6678 provided the hardware foundation for the achievement of AVS2 software decoding.The main contents of this paper: Firstly, study and overview the status of video coding standard, internal and external. Introduce the Audio Video coding Standard 2(AVS2) detailedly. Then, introduce the characteristics of TMS320C6678. At last, introduce the detailed work of the achievement of multiple functions of AVS2 video decoder on the platform of TI TMS320C6678, including the transplantation, optimization, integration and debugging.
