Driven by the evergrowing power of embedded technology,sensor technology and computer network technology,wireless body area network system is booming recently.As an emerging application technology,WBAN focus on body area communication,and is quite suitable for detecting and transmitting personal health information.WBAN will undoubtedly contribute to prospective application and industrialization not only in E-medical/health,but also in fields of sport/training and national defense military.Firstly,this article gives out the design idea by summarizing domestic and foreign relative projects.Then the basic concepts and characteristics of WBAN is discussed,from which the general network structure and functional layers definition is concluded.Provided with the context about physiological parameters monitoring in athlete training,a comprehensive WBAN based health monitoring system is implemented.After a comparison of existing wireless protocols,two different protocols are chosen,ultra low power wireless ANT protocol for sensor network and power amplified ZigBee for gathering network.These two networks are connected by a STM32 based multi-functional gateway,“ANT-Bee”,which is able to transform protocol and act as sensor node simultaneously.In sensor network,a MSP430 based pulse sensor node is implemented.As for the base station in gathering network,open source platform“raspberry pi” is selected and web service of data query is established.Moreover,this system is used to support research on application algorithm of PPG based pulse detection.With reference to MCU application and simulation,an improved application algorithm is presented,utilizing amplitude filter,difference threshold,and moving average.The algorithm is then transplanted back onto MCU and proved to have steady pulse reading in calm state.Finally,function and power consumption test is carried out that confirmed the system is up to expectations.
