With the rapid development of wireless communication technology and growing demand for location-based services,the wireless indoor positioning technology has gained growing attention.However,GPS specifically aims at wireless outdoor positioning function which formed with a specific structure of the outdoor positioning system,it can not obtain the required information effectively in the room.Therefore,how to select a wireless communication technology used in indoor positioning system is critical.Compared with the wireless communication technologies in indoor positioning such as WIFI,Bluetooth,Infrared,Ultrasonic,RFID,UWB(Ultra Wideband)technology has the advantages of low power consumption,low cost,anti-multipath interference and strong penetrating power etc.It is a new spectrum sharing technology and can be used for any kind of communication system.In addition,it's 10 meters range can be realized in hundreds of Mbit/s even several Gbit/s data transmission rates,far more than any other communication systems.Firstly,this paper briefly introduces the development status at home and abroad of UWB wireless communication technology and TDOA algorithm.Secondly,it illustrates the application of UWB indoor positioning system in detail,and derives and analyses the several kinds of localization algorithm.On this basis,through the introduction to the hardware module of UWB indoor positioning system,the paper puts forward the TDOA algorithm which is implemented in embedded indoor positioning system.Finally by the Hainan EVK experiment platform test,it analyzes error and measures system power consumption based on the positioning result.A large amount of experimental analyses and performance comparisons prove that UWB indoor positioning system based on TDOA algorithm at the same time of accurate positioning,can reduce the intercommunication between the base station and terminal,so as to reduces the power consumption of the system.To some extent,it can be more suitable for more labels and large-scale indoor accurate positioning.
