In the home service robot system, it needs to continue to provide energy to the robot in order to keep the robot to work for a long period of time. But if the robot needs to charge by the traditional artificial, the services provided by the robot will greatly reduced. So the robot needs to have the ability to charge by itself. For this purpose, self-charging technology for home service robot is studied.Firstly, this paper introduces the development situations in the abroad and domestic of the self-charging technology for home service robot, including the research background, the situation and the development trend of the self-charging technology are described and analyzed in detail. In order to avoid obstacles actively and charge alone, the home service robot system contain the ultrasonic ranging system, infrared wireless communication system and fast charging control system using single chip microprocessor. Secondly, the principle and realization method of artificial potential field is described. The application situation and the advantages and disadvantages of various artificial intelligence algorithms are analyzed. Thus, a detailed artificial intelligence search algorithm for obstacle avoidance control and charging control algorithm are developed. Finally, based on the analysis of charging and discharging characteristics of lithium battery, a power control circuit for the fast charging control system is designed to provide the system work.In the interaction with the user, we use a flat computer to develop a control system in android operating system. It carries out real-time communication through serial port, which can display the current state of charge. At the same time, users can also use the manual mode to trigger the start of the independent charge. In the overall test of the home service robot self-charging system, we simulate a variety of home environment. The results show that the home service robot self-charging system can avoid obstacles actively and charge alone. The overall tests show that, ultrasonic ranging system in robot can detect the presence of obstacles, it can realize the wireless infrared communication between the robot and the charging seat, and fast charging control system can charge quickly and safely to the battery. All this meet the overall design requirements.
