With the booming development of Communication tec hnology, the synergy and integration of various wireless access technology has become the evolution trend for wireless network. The common development of various wireless heterogeneous network enables the access to network at anytime and anywhere for clients. Different wireless access networks have different system architectures and network performance, and different clients have differe nt demands for the networks. To meet all kinds of individual requirements and business demands, a proper decision algorithm that is dependable and accurate on selecting the optimal wireless network access is essential and significant.This paper firstly studies the current situation of the development of wireless heterogeneous network and emphasizes the importance of the optimal choice of wireless heterogeneous network. Then this paper specifies that the user selects the optimal network access technology which belongs to the typical multiple attribute decision making. This paper studies on the theory of multiple attribute decision making and its application in wireless heterogeneous network, determines the candidate of wireless heterogeneous networks and target attributes. This paper innovatively uses the NS2 network simulation software to simulate and analyze target attributes of candidate heterogeneous networks, which are used in the multiple attribute decision making matrix to solve the issue of accuracy and reliability of attribute value.In this paper, the optimal selection of wireless heterogeneous networks based on TOPSIS is proposed by comparing and ana lyzing several commonly used multiple attribute decision making methods. In view of that the traditional TOPSIS is based on subjective weighting of eigenvector, which ignores the performance of the network itself and leads its strong subjective problem. So this paper puts forward the improved TOPSIS by combining entropy with eigenvector. The simulation and the result analysis prove that the optimal selection of wireless heterogeneous network based on the improved TOPSIS is more accurate and reliable than the traditional TOPSIS.
