With the development of multimedia video technology, multi-view video, as a new video technology, will offer the consumer a totally different experience by providingreal and complete scene information. Multi-view video has been widely used in three-dimensional television, multi-view stereoscopic movies, video conference and other related applications. For multi-view rendering in multi-view video system, virtual view rendering has been proposed based on a main assumption that the multi-view images share the same illumination conditions. However, since different cameras hold different positions and illumination conditions, the actual captured multi-view images are different in color and brightness, which definitely affects the quality of virtual view rendering.In this paper, we evaluate the performances of multi-view video under variable illumination. Main contributions can be summarized as follows:1. We build a multi-view video acquisition system under different illumination conditions. The system can provide variable illumination conditions and realize the synchronous video acquisition.2. We make use of the acquisition system build variable illumination conditions for multi-view image acquisition, and conduct subjective image quality evaluation of virtual view rendering to analyze the relationship between light intensity and virtual image quality.
