In the existing 3D printing and forming systems,in order to print out satisfactory products, engineers choose process parameters according to their experiences, including forming direction, slicing thickness, etc. This method has strong subjectivity.Therefore,the artificial intelligence technology will be applied to optimizing of the 3D printing process in order to optimize the mainly two influencing factors(forming direction and slicing thickness),which can reach smart selection of forming direction and slicing thickness.First,analyze the development and application situation of three-dimension printing(3DP) process,figure that the deficiency is existed in the 3DP technology;discuss the data processing technology and optimizing technology in the 3DP.A method is put forward by establishing optimizing model between forming quality,forming efficiency and forming direction, slicing thickness and apply genetic algorithm on this optimizing model in order to solve smart selection of parameters in the 3DP process.Secondly,debate the generating rules of triangles and the common defects inside,and figure out the solution of these defects.Emphatically describe the way of model data storage of STL file based on ASCII format and BINARY format and give out the core algorithm of extracting these data.Then present the basic process of stratification treatment of STL model which includes three main steps: establishment of data structure, intersection of between the tangent plane and triangles and generation of contour section line,which lays a foundation for the establishment of the optimization model.Then,emphatically research the influencing factors,including forming direction and slicing thickness,which these factors are design parameters.Using volume errors to quantify the index of forming quality and forming time to quantify the index of forming efficiency, the optimizing criterion to form optimization objectives is establish.Moreover,on the base of presenting the function expressions of forming quality and forming efficiency,the multi-objective optimizing model is built which forming direction and slicing thickness are as optimized parameters,forming quality and forming efficiency are as optimized targets.Then Using NSGA-II algorithm to optimize the model and to get a set of Pareto solutions.Finally,using the software Matlab7.0 writes optimizing program of forming direction and slicing thickness,and choose a model to verify the validity of the program and the optimizing model. The experimental results show that using NSGA-II algorithm to optimize not only be able to get an optimal solution,but also can get more meet the requirements of the solution. Thus the established multi-objective model can solve the problem of weighing to choose forming quality and forming efficiency,realize smart selection of forming direction and slicing thickness.The proposed model is suitable for the forming of different parts in “the inkjet printing”,also can be applied to other optimization design of 3DP process. In a certain degree,the model has universal significance.
