In recent years,our country has paid more and more attention to vocational education,and the demand for technical talents has been increasing day by day.However,the quality of students in senior technical schools has been at a low level so far.A large number of senior technical schools students have poor knowledge foundation,low interest and weak confidence in learning.Under the circumstance,the teachers in senior technical schools face with quite a number of challenges during classroom teaching,and the English teachers' teaching situation is particularly worse.The status quo of English teaching in senior technical schools is worrying,which is also due to English teachers' teaching methods,teaching ideas and teaching evaluations being not updated in time.The researcher believes that English teachers should constantly stimulate students' motivation to learn English in the teaching process in order to change the status quo of English teaching in senior technical schools.And this thesis will explore the ways of cultivating and improving students English learning motivations by analyzing the English learning motivations of senior technical school students.The research of this thesis mainly was accomplished by questionnaire and investigation.The author has issued questionnaires to the students of different faculties in a senior technical school in Shenzhen,and has carried on the data analysis as well.By dint of the investigation,the author probed into the factors that affected the students' English learning in senior technical schools.According to the research,the author found that:(1)majority of the senior technical school students expressed a favorable opinion that English is significant in the twenty-first century,and they do not exclude learning English,they likewise deem it advisable to learn English well,because it will make them more knowledgeable and they hope that they can speak English fluently;(2)majority of the senior technical school students English achievements were not ideal when they entered the schools,especially boys;when they could not understand the knowledge points the English teachers expounded in the classroom,they frequently choose to give up learning the knowledge,and they will not “go in hot pursuit or trace the details”;the students' academic performance is closely related to their enthusiasm for English learning;(3)both the boy students and girl students,their enthusiasm for learning is associated with the English teachers classroom teaching methods and classroom activities to a large extent;the lively classroom language and interesting teacher-student interaction will enhance students' learning motivation.In conclusion,according to the results of the survey,and combined with the actual situation of the school,the author puts forward the strategies of promoting senior technical school students English learning motivation:(1)to enhance the practicality of English teaching;(2)to create harmonious and pleasant teaching and learning atmosphere;(3)to encourage the boy students and girl students' to learn English respectively and specifically;(4)to motivate senior technical school students' interest and confidence to learn English.
