The purpose of this paper is to discuss the philosopher and sociologist Georg Simmer's theorizing about gender relations and women's issues.Although the series of viewpoints of Simmel is considered to have not formed a complete system includes theory and empirical support, hypothesis and test,I insist that the relevant context presents a kind of logical integrity. His gender theory emphasizes that differences between men and women are the result of the construction of social history. The particularity of men has risen to the generality and universality of human beings, making women the relative existence in the social and cultural structure. However,in addition to the relative existence of social definitions, women have the true nature of being her own. This real feminine essence is different from the discourse and cognition of the male perspective and can only be explained and confirmed by the female self. Therefore, the particularity of women's essence lies in the fact that the identity of the type is closely related to her individuality, and it constitutes a fundamental metaphysical different from the male's existence mode.Simmel believes that solving the problem of women in modern society must be based on such an essential difference. This paper does not intend to include Simmel in the framework of contemporary feminism to discuss its attributions.Instead,it plans to treat Simmel as a feminist ideology for a time to examine the essence of gender differences and the natural differences between male and female in his theories which must be related to an individual theory.Though a metaphysical method,Simmel actually provide an empowering path for women to strength their own initiative and authority.
