At present,the traditional teacher-centered teaching mode is still applied in English reading teaching in junior high schools,which kills the students’ interest in learning and makes them not enjoy the pleasure of reading.Therefore,it is imperative to explore a new teaching mode.Under this urgent demand,the Interactive Approach comes out.Based on the introduction of the related concepts of Interactive Approach,the present situation of English reading in junior high school and the research on Interactive Approach in reading teaching at home and abroad,this paper puts forward that Interactive Approach applies in English reading teaching in junior high school.The Interactive Approach is a reform of English reading teaching,based on schema theory,constructivism theory and comprehensible input hypothesis.This model is a kind of teaching method,which takes the students as the subject status,takes the teacher as the leader,uses the corresponding reading strategies and stimulates the students’ background knowledge and various schemata related to the reading materials in their mind to improve the reading efficiency of the students.By the teaching experiment,the author aims to verify the following three research hypotheses:(1)Can the Interactive Approach help stimulate the reading interest of junior high school students?(2)Can the Interactive Approach help to improve the overall participation of students in the classroom?(3)Can the Interactive Approach help to improve students’ English reading scores?The author has conducted an experiment research on two classes in Qinghe NO.2 Middle School,Xingtai,Hebei province.114 students are tested,including 57 students the experimental class(EC)and 57 students in the control class(CC).The experiment is conducted for nearly eight weeks and two classes are taught by the same teacher.The only difference is that the Interactive Approach is used in the EC,and the CC adopts the traditional teacher-centered teaching mode.The research instruments include questionnaires,interview,classroom observation scale,pre-test and post-test.The research results are as follows.(1)The Interactive Approach can help stimulate the reading interest of junior high school students;(2)The Interactive Approach help to improve the overall participation of students in the classroom;(3)The Interactive Approach can help to improve students’ English reading scores. |
