| With the rapid development of economic globalization and the closer cooperation and communication among countries in the economic,politic,and cultural field,English has become an indispensable part of our economic and political life.In an attempt to be more powerful and competitive in the world,the authentic competition between countries is the talent competition.Since the beginning of the last century,China has listed English as basic education and vigorously developed.Reading as an important resource of language input,reading comprehension ability is one of the main facet affecting senior high school students English proficiency.However,in the current process of English reading teaching,author finds various inefficient problems,that is,teachers and students pay much attention to the mastery of English knowledge in context,and the understanding of surface content.How to cultivate students’ reading comprehension in senior high school English reading teaching catches more and more attention.The current English reading teaching can not only meet the basic requirements that teaching students to understand the meaning of text and knowledge points,but also to raise reading interest and foster students capacity to read independently,to learn how to appreciate language and then equip with multi-cultural concept.Coming with electronic technology,linguists came to realize that in addition to context information,there is still an important language symbols in the process of the development of language teaching,namely the nonverbal symbols.Researchers list language symbols and non-linguistic symbols(such as image,video,such as body language symbol system)as a range of modal theory study,and formed a new theory--Multimodality theory.Multimodality theory developed rapidly in next decade and Multimodality theory enriched by domestic and abroad scholars and linguists who applied theory to various fields and has achieved remarkable results.The author tried to combine Multimodality theory with English reading to form a new reading teaching mode,which hopes to solve the current situation of reading teaching,arises students’ reading interest,cultivate students’ ability of autonomous learning and multivariate reading and writing ability,enable them capacity of deep understanding and deepen language learning at the same time.The research is based on the background information above,and sorts relevant Multimodality theories and reading teaching.In the light of verifying the new attempt,based on the classroom teaching,the author conducts the research.The research will be conducted in two classes,one as control class and the other as the experimental class.The research last for half a year to investigate whether Multimodality reading teaching is suitable for the senior high reading teaching.For the sake of obtaining more accurate results,the author will adopt questionnaire survey,test,and classroom observation as a research tool of this research. |
