Nowadays,with higher education scale expands,the number of college students increased rapidly,but the employment situation of graduates is not very well.For this issue,all walks of life are raising doubts about the higher education teaching quality.Accordingly,college and universities are also beginning to pay attention to the teaching quality,and to carry out teaching quality evaluation,set up internal teaching quality guarantee system,in order to make sure its sustained and healthy development.Student evaluation is the important part of internal teaching guarantee system and its purpose is to evaluate teacher's teaching quality effectively,which plays a role in promoting college and teacher development.Therefore,to conduct a study of students evaluation of teaching has the realistic significance.In the 1980 s,China began to carry out the students evaluation of teaching,and now many colleges and universities are organizing and developing it.However,there are some issues in the purpose of teaching evaluation,the formulation of student evaluation scale,and other aspects,which lead to the students evaluation of teaching become a mere formality instead of making it play a role to promote teaching quality.Students evaluation of teaching in the United States begins earlier in 1920 s,and now it has formed a relatively perfect system.To study its students evaluation of teaching can provide some thoughts to solve our problems in students evaluation of teaching.This study mainly based on the education evaluation theory,using the method of literature research,and comparative analysis method to study the students evaluation of American colleges and universities.Firstly,explore the development process of American students evaluation of teaching,analyze the agent why it can be carried out widely at present,and then introduce its current situation in United States.It mainly focus on the evaluation institution and staff,teaching evaluation scales,teachers can choose the evaluation indicators,and the result processing.And than,to summarize the characteristics of American students evaluation of teaching,such as the comprehensive and scientific evaluation indicators;teacher get involved in design indicator;feedback be given immediately and be used reasonably.Finally,compare our country students evaluation of teaching with American,and then get some enlightenments in implement of students evaluation of teaching.Firstly,Set up the correct attitude of evaluation the teaching and improve student identify with the evaluation.Secondly,attract stakeholders to participate in student evaluation and optimize assessment indicator system.Thirdly,alert the absolutization of students evaluation of teaching,and reinforce the relevant theoretical research.The last one is to build the effective feedback system and use the evaluation result reasonably.
