Basically,marriage and family are the products of the development of human society.They are a kind of social relationship that set by the social developments.Marriage is the precondition of the family,and family is the result of marriage.Since the concept of marriage and family come into being,they are regarded as the most essential and extensive way of social relationships.Influenced by the reform and opening up and modernization,the material life of the women in rural Yi group have greatly developed,and their emotional life,family status also changed a lot.As a majority group,the Yi women lived in the rural side play an important role in the daily life and production process of Yi group.However,the status in their family is unequal with their status in the production process.To some extent,the situation of female marriage reflects the civilization of an ethnic group,a region or even a country.Nowadays,influenced by the high-developed society and economy,the women in Yu village lived in the environment with external cultural and traditional culture.This thesis from the angle of sociology and anthropology,set the marriage situation of the Yi women in Yu village as the research object,studies and explores the present situation of marriage and family of women in Yu village from reform and opening up to now.This process also takes the social and special history of Yi people into consideration.This thesis adopted some research methods like documentary method,participant observation method,interviewing method,case method,etc.All the information get from these method are used in this thesis,to show the life of these Yi women in their marriage family.This helps others to know the value and thinking of Yi women.This research expanded the view of rural Yi women,showed the hardship of their life and vital role they played in the Yi group.In account of this research,the Yi women are the main force of promoting the social productivity.However,influenced by those elements like culture,education,economy,politics and geography,the Yi women in Yu village lack of technical guidance,leading their livelihood are mainly depend onextensive farming and husbandry.For lack of the awareness of independence,the status of Yi women in the division of household labor and the decision-making power in major business at home is unequal.In their marriage and family,the Yi women have no decision-making power,especially under the pressure of the traditional awareness for family branch;they have no right for make a decision about their marriage and even the belonging right for their children.Influenced by the traditional thinking,they more prefer males according to their birth concept.Family violence and the education of their children are the main reasons that influenced the relationships between husband and wife.The whole thesis is divided into five chapters.The first chapter introduces the research background,the significance of the research,and the related research state.The related research methods and theories are explained,and the difficulties and innovations of the research are introduced.The second chapter focuses on the location and cultural form of Yu village,and analyzes the livelihood way of Yu village by the light of the case,and introduces the women and their contemporary development in the Yi culture.The third chapter focuses on the establishment of women's marriage in Yu village,analyzed the problems and effects of dissolution and reorganization in their marriage.In the fourth chapter,through the field investigation,the author of the thesis deeply investigate the family view,birth view and the relationship between family members by the analysis of the typical case of women in Yu village.The fifth chapter is the reflection of rural women's marriage and family under the inheritance and changes of Yi culture.At the end,the author puts forward a series of measures and suggestions on the existing problems and development prospects.
