| Self has been deeply concerned by sociology and psychology since the Ancient Greek times.With the rapid development of network technology,people have been materialized and alienated,at this time some scholars began to rethink who is the subject of the online world.Even though they realized the objectification of the subject becomes obvious,they still think that people is the subject of the network era,only this way all makes sense.The network opened up virtual space which different from reality for subject self-construction also called online self-construction(here after this text will all be called online self-construction),and provided virtual identity for self which make self can construct a virtual self in online word that differs from the real self.This thesis will discuss the online self-construction from four parts: it firstly introduced the research status about online self-construction,including its theoretical basis and the present status at home and abroad;and then the characteristics under the network background of online self-construction have been discussed.Thirdly,the influence of online self-construction on traditional self-construction has been analyzed.Finally,the situation of online self-construction in modern society has been discoursed.The first part is introduction,it first defined the concept of self-construction,summarized its history and introduced the relevant theoretical research and status analysis.The second part is characteristics of online self-construction,it put forward the digital age brought a new dimension to the self-construction.Previously,people's original self-identity basically conducted in reality,but now the arrival of network makes people construct their identity in the virtual world,which brings fresh blood to the self-construction and makes the online self-construction's characteristics different from the traditional self-construction.The characteristics of online self-construction are anonymity,openness,performativity,idealization,and randomness.The third part is the influence of online self-construction on traditional self-construction.Comparing with the traditional self-construction,online self-construction eroded the results of traditional self-construction,which made the traditional self-role marginalized,the self continuity interrupted and the traditional sense of value lost,it can also be said that corrosion made the unified and continuous self has been dispelled which respected by traditional self-construction.In a word,the self-construction seems to be in a crisis,but in fact,it is an opportunity that can renew itself.The fourth part is the modern society and the online self-construction,the third chapter analyzed the influence of online self-construction on traditional self-construction,so this part will return to the present.It will focus on the development of online self-construction at present times.On the one hand network technology provides strong technique support for online self-construction,on the other hand it threats the subjective status of it: materialization theory and alienation theory are exactly the threats which make people rethink the status of online self-construction.Therefore,network technology not only provides technique support for online self-construction but also vindicates for it.At the same time,what the modern social thoughts created are diversification and divided self,it represents the death of traditional self.This ideological environment provides survival soil for online self-construction.At the end,the traditional self cannot be live like the former way in such a multicultural shock.Yet the new system has not been established and the old system has been broken,so people turn their attention to the internet world to seek new supporting point.People hope that they can find their value,fill the emptiness of reality and achieve self-redemption through this way. |
