Study On The Early Marriage Of Rural Female Youth

The rapid development of society and economy enhances the development of the integration of urban and rural areas;the proper streaming of people between urban and rural areas brings benefit for our developing society because it not only solves the problem of labor shortage but also prompts the exchange of economy and culture.However,the custom of early marriage and early childbearing continuing in some villages,to some extent,fetters the rural youth to the modern society,hinder the process of integration of urban and rural areas,restricting the majority of rural households to get rid of poverty,which is one of the important factors affecting the quality of rural population.In order to explore the current situation of rural marriage,taking village W in Northern Anhui as an example,using literature review,questionnaire survey and structured interviews,the paper made a detailed analysis of the characteristics of early marriage of the female youth in village W from the perspectives of early marriage age,passive early marriage,flash marriage and pre marital sex.Then the paper further expounds the negative effects that early marriage has on the youth themselves,their family and society;it analyses the reasons for early marriage of the young females from the micro perspective and points out the internal and external reasons.As for personal reasons,sexual weakness,gender self-identification,expectation of family status,sexual maturity and open minded sexual belief account for their choice;while the external reasons include “face” idea,spiritual emptiness of their parents,the unbalance of generation relations,the prompting of high bride prices,the reality of intermarry and artificially drawn.In the end,the author appeals that in addition to protecting the personal rights of rural female youth,more efforts need to be made to broaden their horizon,achieve educational gender equity,improving rural women's youth human employ ability skills and to promote the spiritual life.We should also strengthen the guidance of public opinion,to jointly resist the adverse effects of the phenomenon of early marriage.
