With the development of AR technology,researchers in construction field are paying more attention to it,since it can provide a virtual construction filed to help better understand the space while avoiding health and safety issues on site.And many researchers suggest that considering the current teaching method and its performance,we should apply AR technology in construction courses to help improve the learning performance.However,after reviewing current research papers,the author found little consideration of the influence of individual differences among learners on the effects of learning,some even lacking valid verifications on the effects of AR technology in construction teaching.Moreover,many studies have shown that individual learning styles and proper teaching interventions have significant influence on learners' performance and outcome.Accordingly,this paper aimed to find out how individual differences can have influence on the effects of AR mode construction teaching,choosing learning style as the research point,or whether there is a correlation between learning styles and AR construction courses.On the base of Kolb's theory about learning styles and related studies,this paper conducts an inquiry experiment to explore the influence of AR technology and individual learning styles.Subjects are some sophomores from Construction and Management Institute,Chongqing University,whose learning styles are measured by Kolb's scale in order for grouping.In this experiment,they will all be learning reinforcement arrangement and space structure for complicated nodes,during which the learning materials are provided in forms of papers and AR products.Objective tests as well as subjective surveys will be conducted after learning,to help evaluate teaching achievements in perspective of three-dimension teaching goals.The results show that on the whole,AR technology has certain positive influence on construction teaching,whilst the enhancement conducted by AR is also influenced by diverse learning styles,and such influence varies under different difficulty levels.Moreover,in the process of learning,the use of AR technology contributes the most to the progress made by Converters and Assimilators,followed by Distributers and Adapters.According to the above results of the experiment,this paper comes to a conclusion that there is a need to take learning styles into serious consideration,including its influence on learners and how they match with learning tools.In the meantime,software developers and relevant educational institutions should also pay attention to this rather than blindly applying information technologies to construction teachings.
