Reading plays an important role in students' learning.The compulsory education English curriculum standards in 2011 emphasizes that English teaching should pay special attention to the achievement of teaching objectives of emotion,attitude and values.And at the same time it's also keeps a watchful eye on the cultivation of students' innovative spirit and practical ability.Although the English teaching in China has taken a series of actions from curriculum design,classroom teaching,teaching materials,teaching methods,teaching models,teaching resources and so on,the effect is still at the unsatisfactory level.The main reason is that the English Teaching is short of clear conclusions about “what to teach” for a long time."What to teach" is related to teaching content,and it is in a key position in the teaching,which determines the choice and use of teaching methods of English reading,and it is the main “spiritual food” to students English reading.But for a long time,the research on teaching content is often mixed in the research of curriculum standards and teaching methods.Therefore,it is necessary to strengthen the study of teaching content and promote teaching content's enactment in order to improve the teaching of English reading and teachers' professional development.The paper based on literature research method and content analysis method,mainly using questionnaire,interview and classroom observation to explore the actuality of enact English reading teaching content.The study conducted a survey of 200 students in X school,and then collected material with the depth interviews and classroom observation.The author expects that the students learning ability and attitude are the foundation which affects the enactment of English reading teaching content,and teachers are the key factors,and the parenting styles and social resources' contribution are the external support.And then,the author puts forward to the suggestion which how to change the unfavorable factors and convert conditions,overcome the disadvantages for teachers,schools,parents and administrative departments..In view of these problems,the author will modify and design the questionnaire,pay attention to the influence which the teacher' gender and teaching age,summary the teaching content which is suitable for the teaching characteristic.
