Now,all kinds of classroom behaviors exist in English classrooms,such as questioning and answering,classroom feedback,negotiation of meaning and turn-taking and so on.Since 1970,school of Birmingham led by Sinclair has systematically studied language communication in the classroom,and put forward the classroom discourse as the typical I-R-F structure(initiation-response-feedback).It is found that the position of classroom feedback is not supposed to be ignored in the English teaching.This research is to study students' choice preferences of English teachers' effective feedback.In addition,combining the reality of English teachers' feedback using in the classrooms,the author tries to put foreword some relevant suggestions for future teaching.This research mainly adopts questionnaires,classroom observation and interview as research instruments.165 students and 2 English teachers are chosen to be the research subjects.By analyzing the results of the questionnaire,the author tries to show the influences of gender and language proficiency on students' choice preferences of teachers' classroom feedback;by analyzing the results of the classroom observation,the author tries to show the status quo of teachers' using of classroom feedback.And then,based on Wu Ping,Lightbown & Spada's classification of classroom feedback and the students' psychological demands,the research puts forward the suggestions for English teachers to apply correct feedback in their English teaching.It can help teachers to reflect on their teaching and to give themselves some inspiration consequently.In this way,it will lead to the improvement of teaching qualities and learning efficiency.This research arrives at the conclusion that in English classes of high school,the awareness of using various feedback of teachers is gradually improving.To some extent,it motivates the students' language comprehensible input and valid output,but the effectiveness should be increased and improved.Different students have different preferences in choosing feedback which has an impact on their emotion.Currently,teachers' feedback being used can hardly meet the real demands of students,so that it will cause an impact on learning efficiency and motivation.In conclusion,based on the investigation and detailed analysis,the research concludes that there are some problems in the teachers' use of feedback,for they can't give response to students in accordance with their aptitudes,which causes the students' lack of learning enthusiasm and motivation.Therefore,English teachers should reflect on their own adoption of feedback and take measures to improve it.
