Since the new curriculum reform implemented,the goal of education in our country has changed greatly,which has gradually changed from “exam oriented education” to “quality oriented education”.This paper chooses to study the present situation of English teachers' classroom questioning in Yanan Shiyan Middle School,which is actually in order to find ways to improve students' English comprehensive ability,and promote the development of the new curriculum reform.In this paper,through the analysis of results of the current research and combing with the present situation of the local education,200 students and 20 teachers in Yanan Shiyan Middle School are chosen as the experimental subjects,by the way of the questionnaire survey which is from the five aspects of classroom questioning type,classroom questioning method and object,questioning strategy,waiting time,evaluation and feedback to summary the present problems from the research data and put forward some suggestions.This paper attempts to have a deeper understanding of the present situation of English classroom questioning in senior high school,so as to realize the concept of “students as the principal part” in the teaching work in the future.Through this study,we can draw the following conclusions:(1)The singlenessof classroom questioning.Classroom questioning has an imbalanced ratio between display questions and referential questions.(2)The limitation of classroom questioning method and object.The way to ask questions attends to concentrate in the whole class to answer or call somebody to answer.(3)The singleness of classroom questioning strategy.Classroom questioning strategy is not appropriate that teachers usually like to repeat the questions or give the hints directly.(4)The short duration of waiting time.The average time is 2.9 seconds.(5)The simplification of teacher's feedback and evaluation.Finally,this study puts forward some suggestions to solve the current problems in senior high school of English teaching.
