| In moderrn times.female have played an increasingly important role in the management of higher education.Thus,there were numbers of representative presidents.As the elite of china’s women intellectuals,most of them were deeply influenced by both Chinese traditional culture and western freedom air because of their experience of studying abroad.Born in the weak time of China,they were inspired strong feelings of the home country.They put their life and energy into China’s education by running or working in higher education institutions.They were intending to make some real changes in China.Studying the group of female presidents in the development of modern higher education in our country not only will help to understand gradual strongness of female in social status of modern china,but also contributes to clarify the development of higher education from the perspective of gender.It is of a certain significance that people try to understand female’s role in the management of higher education now.Based on the above background,this study intends to collect the information from voluminous literature and show their educational experience,life anecdotes,school management time by literature search,case comparison,historical research.It is helpful to show a vivid picture of Chinese women in the management of higher education through the horizontal comparison and vertical contrast.Therefore,this paper is planned for these following aspects:1.Exhibiting development background of female president from objective and subjective aspects.Firstly,clarifying the process of Church University in modern china because this kind of universities made a leading role in the education of women.Secondly,the development of vocational education of women in modern china helped to provide necessary knowledge literacy and vocational skills.Thirdly,promotion of women liberation movement also enhances the status of women in society.In addition,positive progress,independent and self-reliance for their future development has laid an important foundation.2.Studying the development of female president in universities of modern China.Firstly,the study will elaborate the development process of women higher education and female teachers in modern China to draw out the origin of female presidents.Secondly,analyzing the full group of female presidents of universities to sum up the commonalities of the group.3.Studying their way of managing schools.This paper conducts a case study by selecting three presidents from three universities,including one national university,one junior college,one church university.From the above research,we would find it obvious that female president had done great job in the promotion of female higher education.They are so different among the traditional university presidents not only in the management style or management philosophy,but also in their personnel training.However,there were still many barriers in their career development,school management,which came from social,gender,family and other aspects.The double pressure from both family and career made it difficult for some people in this group to balance.The bias to female in the traditional society also restricts the development of themselves and even the inaugural university.Imbalanced gender ratio between male and female presidents also weakened their voice and role. |
