Relation Between Parental Control And High School Students' Life Satisfaction Based On The Dual Filial Piety Model

It is a truth universally acknowledged,that filial piety is the foundation of all virtues.Long being influential on behaviors of the Chinese people,filial piety has become one of the most important topics of the characterized psychological studies.On the basis of the interdisciplinary advantages,these studies changed the conventional value of filial piety researches,focusing primarily on exploring discrepancy in regional attitude,relationship between filial piety and psychological factors,correction of moral anomie,and improvement of the psychological and behavioral problems,which were in order to seek particular psychological value for the Chinese people.Guanghui Ye,for example,who is account for the famous dual filial piety model,has made great contribution to the researches of new filial piety.According to the dual filial piety model,filial piety per se bears the effects on people's behavior both substantially and meaningfully,which is due to different characteristics of the parent-child relationship.On the one hand,filial piety implies reciprocal benefits between parents and children by emphasizing respects.Prides resulting from obedience,on the other hand,can as well accrue from filial piety.This paper is based on the theory of Dual Filial Piety,Parental Control,Object Telations,and ?Chaxu geju?.Moreover,the Dual Filial Piety Scale(DFPS),Parental Control Scale,and Adolescent Students' Life Satisfaction Scale(ASLSS)are used to measure faith in filial piety,parental psychological and behavioral control,and life satisfaction respectively.The purpose is to investigate the mechanism between the parental controls both mentally and behaviorally and children's life satisfaction.The empirical research is based on samples from Hunan and Zhejiang province with a size of 539,and results are as follows.1.The faith of Dual Filial Piety is significantly negatively correlated with the mental controls from parents,whereas is significantly positively correlated with the behavioral controls.To be specific,there is significant positive relationship between the faith of Dual Filial Piety and life satisfaction,with the estimates of the reciprocal filial piety and the authority filial piety being the highest.In addition,the estimates of both the mental controls and the behavioral controls are significant,with that of the withdrawing love being the highest.2.The Dual Filial Piety bears a partial intermediating effect.The reciprocal filial piety has played part of a mediating role between Parental control and Life satisfaction with a mediating effect ratio of 20.7%.Note that withdrawing love and active inquiry have indirect effects on life satisfaction via the reciprocal filial piety.Furthermore,the authority filial piety partially mediated the relation between parental control and life satisfaction with a mediating effect ratio of 29.2%.Note that insisting authority and active inquiry influent life satisfaction both directly and indirectly,through the channel of authority filial piety.While behavior restriction can has influence on life satisfaction merely through faith of the authority filial piety.3.There are significant distinctions in respect of parental psychological control,the reciprocal filial piety,and life satisfaction among students in different genders.It also indicated that whether live with grandparents and guardians does not make any difference with respect to all the variables.Note that parental control,the reciprocal filial piety and Life satisfaction have significant difference in Middle school students' grade.Also,only parental behavior control has significant difference regarding the parents' years of schooling.In different levels of psychological control,only the reciprocal filial piety and life satisfaction have significant difference;And in different levels of behavior control,each of the variables has significant difference.Based on the results above,this paper gives policy suggestions from the points of view of the optimization of parental controls,development of faith in filial piety and promotion of life satisfaction in high school students.It is expected that the family filial piety will be benefited from this paper in keeping people in a positive mood.
