| With the implementation of education for all-round development and the increasing demands for training qualified personnel of all-round development, the students are asked to learn and master the contents of the class, which appears to be extremely important.Meanwhile, with the development of enrollment among all kinds of school, almost every school is faced with a vital issue, which is the fact that the differences between students are widening. But students still repeat the information given by their teachers and books,as a result, students are just like puppets rather than actively choose what they really need. How to cultivate every student in accordance with their levels hasn’t been given enough concern. And all the inherent quality of the students, and the subjective efforts of the different levels of the students in the same class are obviously different, thus hierarchical teaching, individualized education,in the classroom teaching in the field of in-depth quality education comes into being. And Hierarchical Teaching Mode has become one of the main features of school education since it was introduced to the school teaching at the beginning of twentieth Century. But the current domestic researchers of Hierarchical Teaching Mode are mostly for college English majors or other subjects in high school, while relatively few study of Hierarchical Teaching Mode practiced in English class of high school is carried out.Under the requirements of New Curriculum Standards, carrying out Hierarchical Teaching Mode in English class to cultivate students to their full improvement is of great importance.Under these circumstances, this study aims to investigate the application of Hierarchical Teaching Mode which is carried out in English class in high school;and whether the application of Hierarchical Teaching Mode has an impact on student. Therefore, the author puts forward the following research questions systematically according to the research purposes:1)Is it feasible to apply Hierarchical Teaching Mode in English class of high school?2)Does the application of Hierarchical Teaching Mode have a positive impact on improvement of all students in their respective classes?3)Does the application of Hierarchical Teaching Mode narrow the differences in performance between students?89senior high school students from Shandong Experimental School in Shandong Province took part in this research. In grade one, they were taught as traditional way.In grade two, they were classified into two groups, group A and group B,that is,class A and class B.And they were taught according to their different levels. This study started from September,2015 and ended in July,2016,which was carried out by the same teacher and same students. In this study,a questionnaire and classroom observations were employed and tests were applied to test their performance.Then,SPSS22.0 was used to analyze the data which were collected in the present study.According to analysis and discussion of collected data, the main findings are as follows:Firstly,It’s an effective way to teach knowledge according to students’ abilities and improvement of personal quality. It conforms the situation of students, the social demand of personnel of different levels and the orientation of society. So it is feasible to apply Hierarchical Teaching Mode in English class of high school.Secondly,Students’ passive learning attitude and method have been changed. They can get their full development. In turn, the improvement stimulates students’ interest and efficiency. In short, the application of Hierarchical Teaching Mode does have a positive impact on improvement of all students in their respective classes.Thirdly,as every student can study actively, their performance is better.Because of Hierarchical Teaching Mode, every student gets their own development and the application of Hierarchical Teaching Mode does narrow the differences in performance between students.Based on the above study, the thesis also puts forward some suggestions on how to apply Hierarchical Teaching Mode.At last, the thesis discusses some pedagogical implications and some suggestions for further study. |
