Now composition and reading are two important parts in subject Chinese.The priority of composition teaching is to teach students love composition,and have substance in composition.However,now in composition teaching,teachers don't know how to teach,and students don't know how to write.Both teachers and students believe that composition ability improvement depends on students' diligent learning and persistent practice,and has nothing to do with teachers' teaching.In composition classes,students finish hastily.Teachers give rough comments,and assign new composition topics.In order to find ways and seek solutions in composition teaching,we may start from composition teaching ideas of Chinese education in early Republican period when modern composition establishes.Xia Mianzun was an authority in Chinese education in Republican period.He wrote various academic books on Chinese education.Composition is a hot issue in Chinese teaching nowadays.In order to make students have no fear in composition,and fall in love with composition,we should begin from the very start—composition in their primary schools.Students should form good habits in composition.We ought to enable students to believe that composition is interesting from their primary schools.Therefore,we can learn from Xia Mianzun's ideas and theories about composition teaching,in order to make students build correct composition ideas,and love writing compositions heartily.This paper consists of four parts.The first part is introduction,which are displayed in five aspects: researching reasons,researching objects,literature review,researching ideas and methods,researching value and meaning.This part acts as a systematic description of this paper.Part Two gives an systematic explanation of Xia Mianzun's composition teaching ideas.Before you start write,students should have attitudes of expressing their true feelings,regarding composition as a part of life and describing it honestly,clearly and creatively.Students should also remember that reading is a necessary part of writing.Writing and reading are closely related.They make a perfect pair.Neither can be removed.When students begin to write,they have to understand the unity of knowledge and action,practice their writing by using regulations and exercises,and pays attention to cultivate their thinking abilities.As for writing techniques,writings should be reader-centered.Students should develop their language sense.More readings,writings,discussions and modifications can help improve writing proficiency.When students finish writing,they should notice two standards,that is,clarity and suitability,and two requirements,that is,truthfulness and exactness.They are used to evaluate their compositions.The third part explains meanings of Xia Mianzun's writing ideas in modern times,from the perspective of reasons and modern meanings.There are two reasons to explain modern meaning of Xia Mianzun's writing ideas.Problem solving should go back to its beginning.Learning Xia Mianzun's writing teaching ideas are never eating leftovers.The modern meanings can explain the advantages of Xia Mianzun's ideas.It is discussed from three points: Writing inspiration comes from life;Writers should have sense of readers;Compositions are reflections of writers' personality.The fourth part shows influences of Xia Mianzun's writing teaching ideas to writing teaching in primary school.This part is discussed from three aspects: present conditions of teaching in primary school,modern meanings and inspirations of Xia Mianzun's writing teaching ideas.As for the present conditions and weakness,this paper emphasizes four points.In expressing emotions in writing,students don't write for their true feelings.Their compositions lack innocence.Thoughts are raised artificially.They give too much attention to moral expressions.As for writing practice,discussions are made from following aspects: content of composition,ability cultivation,methods of practicing,relationship between reading and writing,relationship between composition and personality.As for writing goals,students write because of examination demands.They are too utilitarian,and alienate their writing from true life.Instrumentality and humanity should be unified.As for comments of compositions,teachers' feeling are alienated from those of students'.Teachers are not serious in composition comments.Students modify their writing perfunctorily.As for modern development of Xia Mianzun's writing teaching ideas,this paper explains from following aspects: new-style reading-writing relationship,values required in curriculum standards,encouragement for students to express their true feelings whenever and wherever in micro-age.As for inspirations,the paper explains from following aspects: notice to improve ability,innocence protection,individuality expression,writing interests development,increasing reading amount;encouraging comments and modifications,expressions of true feelings.All in all,by making a summary of Xia Mianzun's composition teaching ideas and developing a display of present teaching and learning in primary schools,this paper makes inspirations,which may be helpful in solving problems in present composition teaching and writing.This contributes to composition teaching in Chinese teaching of primary schools.
