| WHO defined Suicide Intervention as the effective intervention measures taken to help students with suicidal plans,behavior and attempted suicide revert to a certain level of cognition,emotion and behavior,smoothly getting through the suicide crisis.In order to understand the difficulties of college psychological counselors intervening college students’ suicide,the study used the methods of quality oriented,supplemented by quantity to conduct the semi-structured interview of 20 college psychological counselors,and to carry out the questionnaire survey on 126 psychological counselors with the self-compiled questionnaire of the difficulties of college psychological counselors intervening college students’ suicide.The conclusions are as follows:(1)The core category of the grounded theory constructed in this study was the difficulties of college psychological counselors intervening college students’ suicide,mainly including the counselors’ own difficulty,the visitors difficulty,the parents difficulty and the college difficulty.The counselors’ own difficulty was embodied in the lack of knowledge and skills,the obsession of emotional stress,and the conflict of multiple roles;the visitors difficulty was shown in their resistance to consultation or counselors;the parents difficulty was reflected in their in-coordinate attitudes and behaviors;the college difficulty was demonstrated in the leaders’ lack of attention and action,and the lack of teamwork.(2)The questionnaire of the difficulties of college psychological counselors intervening college students’ suicide developed by the research included 15 items,taking the way of five-point scoring.The questionnaire consisted of three dimensions: skills reserves,emotional involvement and environmental barriers.The higher score of each dimension respectively represented the less skills reserves,the higher degree of emotional involvement,and the higher degree of environmental barriers.The total score of the three dimensions represented the higher degree of the overall difficulty of intervention.(3)The survey results showed that the overall difficulty of college psychologicalcounselors intervening college students’ suicide was close to the medium level.The skills reserves of college psychological counselors in intervening college students’ suicide was better;the emotional involvement was of moderate degree;the environmental barriers was comparatively obvious.(4)The results showed that the overall difficulty level of the full-time counselors and the part-time campus counselors was higher than the external consultants in intervening college students’ suicide and so was the degree of emotional involvement.Besides,the skills reserves of counselors with junior title was less than that of counselors with middle title and senior title.On the basis of the results above,this study pertinently put forward the following countermeasures: college psychological counselors should improve their skills of suicide intervention through a variety of channels and actively adjust emotional stress;college administrators should improve the policy system related to college students’ suicide intervention,pay more attention to and make more efforts on the psychological counselors of intervening college students’ suicide and establish systematic working groups of crisis intervention;parents should strengthen their awareness and attention to mental illness;students should enhance their trust to consultation and their understanding of consultants. |
