To cultivate high-quality teachers and promote the balanced development of education, China began to bring the free education policy into force for normal students in six subordinate normal universities in the fall semester of 2007, which reflects that the party and country attach great importance to the development of education. Physical education teachers play an important role in the process of strengthening the physical fitness and promoting the flourish of adolescent. Also, tuition-free physical education students are prospective physical education teacher whose degree of recognition towards occupation of physical education teachers directly determines the future physical education work in school. In this paper, I investigates the professional identity of physical education among tuition-free physical education students enrolled from 2013-2016 in Central China Normal University and employs some research methods such as literature, mathematical statistics, logical analysis and questionnaire survey. The participants are studied from four perspectives, namely, professional values, professional behavior tendencies, professional sense of belonging and role values . It is revealed that, firstly, there is a high integral level of professional occupation of sports free teachers. However, professional value factor wins the highest score and professional behavior tendency factor wins the lowest score because of the difference between the degrees of recognition. Secondly, there are differences between different gender sports free-tuition normal school students in their occupational identity, indicating that the female occupation is higher than the male. Thirdly, there are differences in professional identity concerned with grade. The research finally finds that freshmen have the lowest professional recognition, which rises along with grade increasing and attains a highest level when they are senior. At the same time, preschool education training and internship activities have a great impact on the professional normalization of sports. Fourthly, there are significant differences between different sources of sports free normal school students of their professional identity.Students from the urban area have a higher level than those who are from the rural area.I would like to make the following proposals:Firstly, on the one hand, China should improve the attractiveness of physical education teachers by completing the normal education policy for teachers. On the other hand, it should speed up the implementation and improvement of the relevant supporting policies to protect the smoothly implementation of policies; Secondly, the community should form the positive guidance of public opinion, build the atmosphere of respect for teachers and improve the status of teachers. Thirdly, schools should be in line with policies and regulations of the national education departments and provincial education departments to develop the cultivation organizations which accord with the rules of teacher training and possess the characteristics of sports while the College of Physical Education should pay great attention to cultivating free physical education students with their professional identity through multiple ways. Fourthly, tuition-free physical education students must lay equal emphasis on theory and practice, strive to improve their professional skills and create a positive role identity in the learning phase.
