Objective: The objective of this study is to test the EMG signals of four muscles-rectus femoris,musculi biceps femoris,anterior tibialis muscle,and gastrocnemius in the lower limbs,when the Elderly doing the five typical Tai Chi movements-Hug knee flexed step?Repulse monkey?Wave-hand in cloud?Heel kick?Grasp the bird's tail of the 24-Style Tai Chi,and analyze the physical characteristics of the lower limb muscles.Method: Using ME-6000,cameras and other equipment and apparatus to test the EMG of fifteen elderly people when doing all five movements and during normal walking.All fifteen elderly people have more than ten years Tai Chi practice experience.Through the analysis of comparative data to obtain the results.Result:(1)All the muscle's IEMG of the typical Tai Chi movements were higher than those of normal walking.(2)Musculi biceps femoris is the most important muscle during the first two stages of Hug knee flexed step,rectus femoris is the most important muscle during the latter two stages.(3)The left thigh muscle activation is earlier in the first stage of Repulse monkey's,the left calf muscles activation is earlier in the second stage.(4)Musculi biceps femoris is the most important muscle in the first stage of Wave-hand in cloud's,it changed to rectus femoris during the second stage.(5)All four muscles above contract longer on Heel kick.(6)The front left leg muscle's IEMG is higher during the first stage of Grasp the bird's tail's,the musculi biceps femoris' s IEMG is higher in the second stage.Conclusion:(1)Exercise effect from Tai Chi is comprehensive.(2)Hug knee flexed step is important for exercise the thigh muscles.(3)the left thigh muscle is more active in the first stage of Repulse monkey,the left calf muscles is more active in the second stage.(4)Wave-hand in cloud is important for exercise the thigh muscles.(5)When doing Heel kick all four muscles contract for a long time.(6)The front left leg muscle exercise more in the first stage of Grasp the bird's tail,it changed to the musculi biceps femoristhe in the second stage.
