In order to adapt to the trend of educational reform,change the current situation of high school biology classroom tutorials,meet the needs of the development of students' subjective role,it's imperative to improve the students' problem solving competency in tutorials of biology.In view of the present situation of tutorials of biology presented,starting from the essential characteristics of problem solving,combining with the author's own educational practice experience,the study aims to put forward some practical suggestions of improving the students' problem solving competency in biology tutorials,and to provide references for the further reform of basic education.The study adopted the literature research method,investigation method,education statistics and education experiment method.The object of the study were two classes of senior two,one as the experimental class and another one as the control class.In experimental class,we adopted the new tutorials to improve students' problem solving competency.In the control class,we adopted the traditional tutorials.The tools of study included questionnaire of students' problem solving competency,the final paper and the interviews.The study used SPSS to analyze data from two classes(mainly independent sample t test).The results of the study showed that,compared with the control class,the students in the experimental class:(1)the biological tutorials of culturing students' problem solving competency could improve students' competency in “strategy” and “quality”,but not “attitude”.(2)the biological tutorials of culturing students' problem solving competency could improve academic achievement;(3)students hold a positive attitudes towards the tracking interview.According to the research results,this study also gives some education principles for teachers and learning strategies for students in the new tutorials of improving students' problem solving competency.The study aims to change the passive habits of students,to mobilize the initiative of students.What's more,the study hopes to meet the needs of development of students' subject role,and the needs of generation of social in problem solving competency.
