The Application Of "Mind Map" In Senior High School Writing Teaching

Mind map is a kind of effective and visualized thinking model which was put forward by Tony Buzan in 1960s.As one of the four basic skills in English learning,writing plays an important role in English teaching.However,English writing teaching's current situation in senior high school is unsatisfactory.Students are not interested in English writing,and traditional teaching methods are also inefficient.In this research,the author bases English writing teaching on mind map.The application of mind map in senior high school English writing teaching can provide students with writing materials and structures.It can help improve students' logic thinking and solve difficult writing problems for students——what and how to write.This ten-week study was carried out in Senior High School affiliated to Z University,where the author teaches English as an intern.The participants are 110 students in Senior Three.The author uses comparative experiment method in the research,Class 6 is the experimental class while Class 11 is the control class.The experiment uses three instruments,pre-test,post-test and questionnaires,and the data are analyzed by SPSS.The data collected from teaching practice shows the following aspects.1.The writing teaching model based on mind map can arouse students' interest in writing.2.Mind map can broaden the depth of writing and provide writing materials and structures for students so that students' writing is improved.3.The English writing teaching design based on mind map is an effective teaching strategy for teachers,and an acceptable and popular learning method for students.All above proves that mind map-based teaching design can work on the disadvantages and shortcomings of traditional writing teaching and play a significance role in improving English writing teaching.
