Gardner‘s Multiple Intelligence Theory provides classroom teachers with a multidimensional view of evaluating students and their learning processes.Individualization and diversification of learner personalities, aptitudes, cognitive styles, etc.play a decisive role in determining the approaches to and methods of classroom teaching delivery.Applying MIT to the teaching processes has proved to be an effective way of school teaching and instruction over the years, but it still remains a big issue as to how to apply the theory to practice in terms of student types, teaching purposes, learning environment, etc.Through literature research, questionnaire survey, data analysis and case study methods, the writer apply the MIT into the first –line teaching research.First of all, based on the ―Multiple Intelligence Survey for Primary Students‖,the writer gets familiar with the distributions of the targeted students‘ multiple intelligence abilities.Accordingly, the students are heterogeneous grouped into several small learning communities.Meanwhile, this survey successfully solves the research question 1,which is how to build our learning communities scientifically.Secondly, the writer tries to make the learning communities to work independently.Through the detailed methods and cases within and outside of the English class, the writer answers research question 2,which is how to guarantee the learning communities to work effectively within and outside of the classroom and how to improve the enthusiasm and initiatives of the students to do the preview and homework? The writer expounds the detailed operational processes of the experiment through five parts, which are preview, teaching in class, homework, correction part and evaluation. Finally, with the help of SPSS19.0,the writer compares the numbers of options of pre-survey and post-survey.The data can prove that the learning communities have some valued effects on following ways, such as improving students‘ interests in English, enhancing the English comprehensive abilities, increasing the enthusiasm and initiatives of the students to do the preview and homework, especially for the oral homework, etc. The analysis answers roundly the research question 3,which is how to detect and give feedback to the effectiveness of the learning community.Through the practical study of teaching for the whole term, the writer verifiesthe positive effects of the learning community in terms of the enhancement of students‘ English comprehensive abilities. The positive effects include the enhancement of students listening and oral abilities;the enlargement of the vocabulary;developing the students’ writing ability and enriching the level and structure of writing;inspiring the students‘ enthusiasm for taking the initiative to complete the oral and written assignments which make sure the oral assignment be monitored;cultivating the students’ ability to listen to other opinions seriously and meanwhile to show respect to others. After the implementation of the learning community, students prefer to discuss difficulties in the learning communities first, rather than ask for the help from teachers or parents. With the enhancement of students‘ interest in English study, their academic performances show great progress accordingly.
