People in different countries communicate with each other more frequently with the development of the society.English becomes a common language in the process of communication.So English learning catches the attention of language researchers and teachers.Writing,as one of the language skills in English learning,reflects the learners' language proficiency,and it is considered as an important aspect of language teaching.Scaffolding instruction is based on constructivism,social constructivism and the zone of proximal development.In scaffolding instruction,learners can gradually understand the questions by completing complex tasks with the help of teachers.Students can master the knowledge and achieve the goals after the temporary support removed.The aim of the thesis is to study the impact of scaffolding instruction on English writing teaching in senior high school.It attempts to answer the following research questions:1.Is there any change in students' attitudes towards English writing after the scaffolding instruction?2.Can the scaffolding instruction enhance students' cooperative learning in writing?3.Can the scaffolding instruction improve students' English writing achievements?The participants are 64 students in Grade 2 in No.2 Senior High School of Jinzhou,Liaoning Province.There are two classes in this experiment.Class Three is randomly chosen as the experimental class and Class Eight as the control class.Students in the experimental class receive the scaffolding instruction,while students in the control class receive product approach.The research applies quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze the data from questionnaire,writing tests and interview by SPSS 19.0.The results of analysis are as follows:1.There is a change in students' attitudes towards English writing after the scaffolding instruction.2.Scaffolding instruction can enhance students' cooperative learning in writing.3.Scaffolding instruction can improve students' English writing achievements.
