With the development of American Khan Academy and massive open online courses(MOOC),the flipped classroom began to hit the Chinese classroom teaching.Lots of magazines introduce something about the foreign research and implementation,and Chinese scholars also began to pay much attention to the systematic study of the flipped classroom.The flipped classroom began to be popular in some school in 2007,and few people focused on it before 2011.But after 2013,there are much more studies on flipped classroom,and they are also applied in many specific subject,such as math,Chinese,information technology course,physics and so on.But there are few studies on English reading,So the author tries to apply the flipped classroom in English reading in this paper and finds the answers to the following questions.This present study aims to solve two questions:(1)Can the flipped classroom affect students' reading scores?(2)Can the flipped classroom affect students' English reading anxiety?The author does the experiment in Weixian Hezhao middle school in Xingtai city of Hebei province from September to December in2016.The subjects of the study are 90 students.The students come from two classes in grade eight of this school,one is the experimental class,and the other is control class.They are at the same level.With the premise that other variables are controlled,the flipped classroom is used in the English reading instruction of the experimental class,and the grammar-translation teaching method is used in the control class.The data collected in this study includes the students' reading scores of pre-test and post-test and the questionnaires.By using SPSS 19.0,the results show that the flipped classroom has positive impact on the students' reading achievement and it can reduce students' reading anxiety.
